Countryfile Magazine has crowned Sandown Bay the best British beach for ‘traditional bucket and spade beach on the east coast of the Isle of Wight with miles of golden sand, pier and eclectic seafront – and just a short walk to peace, fossil-rich cliffs and stunning coastal wildlife.’

To win this award is testament to what the Isle of Wight has to offer and one more reason for first time visitors to discover the Island.

Heritage Attractions Ltd, which owns The Needles Landmark Attraction, has a 50-year lease with Sandown Town Council to develop Sandham Gardens directly opposite Sandown Bay beach and has already revealed plans to open a dinosaur-themed golf attraction and a high-ropes course at the site.

Christian Zanti, operations manager, Sandham Gardens, said:

“We’re excited to be able to press on with our plans for Sandown after getting the green light from the council.

“We have already started construction work on our  ‘Dino Islands, A Golf Adventure’ attraction, which will open for Easter 2019, having already introduced electric go-karting to Sandham Gardens this summer.

Marino Zanti from Heritage Attractions Ltd said:

“We firmly believe this development can provide the spark for a new phase of regeneration for Sandown.

“Heritage Attractions Ltd has a fantastic track record when it comes to running a successful island attraction.

“We plan to continue to work with local businesses, employ islanders and maintain a close relationship with the council and community as we redevelop Sandham Gardens.”
